   Bill O’Connell Baseball INC.

Extra Bases Baseball Clinic is a youth baseball clinic specifically designed for the development of Braintree and Walpole Little League players between the ages of 8-12.  The Extra Bases Summer Baseball Clinic  prides itself on offering a quality instructional practice.


Bill O’Connell, Head Baseball Coach at Braintree High School, and his staff will be conducting their annual (18th year in Walpole and 12th year in Braintree) Little League clinics this coming summer. O’Connell was a 3 sport athlete at Walpole High and then continued his education at the New Hampton School and Springfield College where he was also a 3 sport athlete. He also played for the Chatham A’s in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

O’Connell has enjoyed an unprecedented level of success at the helm of the Braintree High School baseball program. The Wamps enjoyed their finest seasons in 2015 and 2016. In 2014, Braintree lost in the Super 8 State Championship game.  The follow year, the Wamps, remarkably returned to the finals.  This time they “finished the job” by winning the Massachusetts Super 8 baseball state title at Campanelli Stadium. The success continued into 2016 as the Wamps once again won the Massachusetts D1A Super 8 State Championship.  In 2017, the Wamps made a terrific run to for the “3-peat”, as they made it all the way to the final 4 in the Super 8 tournament before being defeated.

Under his guidance in 12 seasons, the Wamps have qualified for the State Tournament each year.  His teams have won 6 Bay State League Championships, and have been selected to participated in the Super 8 baseball tournament in four consecutive seasons, (2014,2015,2016,2017). Braintree High School has won the D1A State Baseball Championship in 2015 and 2016. O’Connell was selected by two media outlets, ESPN Boston Coach of the year for 2015 and the Boston Globe Coach of the Year for 2015 and 2016.  He was also selected by the Mass Baseball Coaches Association to Head Coach the Eastern Mass Senior All Star game.

O’Connell has enjoyed the privilege of coaching 1 major league draft pick, 6 Division 1 baseball scholarship players and 43 Division 2/3 baseball commits in his 11 seasons at the helm.  He has had 6 Bay State Carey MVPs, 2 Super 8 MVPs, 10 Espn Boston All State players and a Espn Boston Mr. Baseball player of the year in 2016.

Clinic Staff

Adult supervision and coaching will be the trademark of this program.  Our coaching staff is selected to ensure the highest quality of instruction.  Our staff is made up of former professional and college baseball players as well has current high school coaches from Braintree and Walpole high school.

Clinic Information

Daily, individual skills instruction include: throwing and catching, ground ball techniques, batting lectures and drills, pitching, outfield, catching and middle infield stations, rundown execution, proper base running and slide drills.

Each day will provide a lunch break and a special event period competing for daily baseball-related prizes. The snack shack will be open for food purchase during the lunch break.  The last hour of each day will conclude with an organized game.


                  JUNIOR WEEK!

Our new junior program is geared toward players ages 6-7.  Players will learn the fundamentals of the game from our experienced staff who combine both instruction and fun to help players understand the game better as well as grow a passion for the game in a “camp” environment.

Each day players will participate in drills to develop the individual baseball skills as well as play a live coach pitch game.  Each day runs from 9am-Noon and is perfect for future enthusiast!!
